You have booked your portable toilets. The date is in the diary. But what actually happens when they arrive?
If you have never hired a portable toilet before, delivery day can feel like a bit of a mystery. Will someone need to be there? Where will the unit go? What if the ground is muddy?
Don't worry. It is much simpler than it sounds. At ACE Loos, we deliver portable toilets to homes, events and building sites across Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire and the Midlands. This guide explains what to expect on the day, so there are no surprises.
Before Delivery Day: What You Need to Sort Out
A little planning makes delivery quick and smooth. Here are three things to check before your portable toilet delivery.
Confirm Your Delivery Date and Time
When you book, we agree a delivery date with you. If your event or project has a firm start time, tell us. We will do our best to get the units to you in good time.
For weddings and big events, it is best to have the toilets in place well before guests arrive. That gives you time to check everything and make any changes.
Choose a Good Spot
Think about where the toilets should go. The best spot is:
- Flat and firm. Soft, sloping or boggy ground is not safe.
- Easy to find. Guests and workers should reach it without a long walk.
- Easy to reach by vehicle. Our delivery vehicle needs a clear route to the spot.
- A little away from food areas. This is more pleasant for everyone.
If you are not sure, just ask. Our team can suggest the best place when you book.
Check Access
Access is the most common cause of delivery problems. Before the day, look at:
- The width of your gates and driveways
- Narrow lanes or tight corners
- Low branches or overhead cables
- Steps, slopes and soft ground
If access is tricky, tell us when you book. We can plan for it, or suggest a better spot.
Delivery Day: Step by Step
Here is what usually happens when your portaloo delivery arrives.
- We arrive at your site. Our driver comes to the address you gave us. Please make sure the route is clear and gates are open.
- A quick site check. The driver looks at the access and the ground. They will check the spot is safe and suitable.
- The units are unloaded. We take the portable toilets off the vehicle with care.
- The units are placed. We position each toilet on level ground, in the spot you chose.
- A final check. We make sure everything is in place and ready to use.
You don't need to do any lifting or setting up. We deliver and position the units for you.

What If Access Is Tricky?
Not every site is easy to reach. Many of our jobs in Staffordshire and Shropshire are at farms, fields, country venues and building sites. These can have narrow tracks, soft ground or locked gates.
That is fine. We just need to know in advance. If we know about a problem before the day, we can plan around it. If the ground is too soft or the route is blocked, our driver may suggest a safer spot nearby.
Best tip: Send us a photo of the site or a clear note about the entrance. It can save a lot of time on the day.
Delivery for Different Types of Hire
Delivery looks a little different depending on what you need.
Events and Weddings
For parties, weddings, festivals and community events, timing matters. You want the toilets ready before guests arrive. We will help you work out how many units you need and where to put them. You can find out more on our event portable toilet hire page.
Building Sites and Long-Term Projects
On a construction site, the toilets often stay for weeks or months. We place them somewhere safe and easy for workers to reach. We also arrange regular servicing so they stay clean. See our long-term portable toilet hire and welfare unit hire pages for details.
Home and Garden Use
Having a bathroom out of use during building work? Or hosting a big garden party? A single portable toilet can be a great help. Just make sure there is a clear path to your garden or drive, and tell us about any narrow gates.
During Your Hire: Servicing and Support
Your portable toilet needs to stay clean and ready for use. For longer hires, we arrange regular servicing, so units are cleaned and restocked.
If something goes wrong, such as a damaged unit, just call us. We can arrange a replacement if needed. You are never left on your own.
Collection Day
When your hire ends, we come back to collect the units. To make this easy:
- Keep the route to the toilets clear
- Make sure gates are open
- Tell us early if your event or project runs over, so we can change the collection date
We take the toilets away, so you have nothing to clear up.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be there when the toilets are delivered?
It is best if you, or someone you trust, can be reachable on the day. That way we can ask questions about where to place the units. Tell us when you book if nobody will be on site, and we will agree a plan.
How long does portable toilet delivery take?
It depends on how many units you need and how easy your site is to reach. One toilet on a flat driveway is quick. A large event on a field takes longer. Our team can give you a better idea when you book.
Can you deliver to a field or farm?
Yes. We often deliver to fields, farms and country venues. Please tell us about the track, gates and ground, so we can plan ahead.
What if the ground is wet or muddy?
Wet ground can make delivery harder and units less stable. Let us know about the conditions. We may suggest a firmer spot, or a different way in.
Can I ask for a certain delivery time?
You can tell us what time you need the toilets in place. We will do our best to fit in with your plans. Always check the final details with us when you book.
How soon should I book?
As early as you can, especially for weddings, summer events and busy weekends. If you need toilets quickly, call us and we will see what we can do.
